“Red Bull Illume” Photo Competition
The "Red Bull Illume" Action and Adventure Sport Photo Competition is unique in the world. First launched in 2007, the 2010 selection phase is now under way, with over 22.000 pictures submitted by more than 4.000 photographers, all competing for the coveted first prize - a Leica S2.
An international jury made up of 49 trade editors, photo editors and other professionals of the photo industry will decide on the winner of this year's "Red Bull Illume" award. Over 4.000 photographers from 112 countries are competing to be among the first 50 in ten categories: Culture, Playground, Energy, Spirit, Close-up, Wings, SanDisk sequence, New Creativity, Experimental and Illumination. The winner of the first prize will receive a Leica S2 with additional equipment, amounting in total to a value of 30.000 €. In addition, winners will be chosen for each category from among the top 50 finalists. Independently from the main jury, internationally renowned athletes will select the recipient of the "Athletes' Choice Award". "Red Bull Illume" is the only photo competition in the world focused on the accomplishments of Action and Adventure Sports. The organisers are keen to bring the first class, artistic qualities of this photographic genre to the attention of the general public.
